Discover the Beauty of Fitzgerald River National Park: Whales, White Sands, and Dune Landscapes

Thinking about the time I spend exploring the Fitzgerald River National Park are happy memories. I was here in August when the ocean was very cold, but also crystal clear and home to whales and their young calves who spent their time resting near to shore.

The park has quite a few high spots you can watch whales from and at Point Charles Bay / Anne Point there are walkways and whale watching platforms as well as public toilets.

I also really enjoyed getting out on the water on my paddleboard to get a little closer to the whales, and to enjoy the stunning view of looking back to land from the water.

I think you could easily spend a few nights here, exploring walking or 4x4 trails, long walks on the perfectly white sandy beaches and whale watching.

The park is apparently also home to 200 species of birds and I also saw ample other wildlife of the reptilian sort.

I camped at Point Ann, a small tidy bush camping area near the water and I also went exploring through the vast sand dunes at Hammersley. Sadly quite a few of other trails and access points to other beaches were closed during my visit.
