Fire in the truck - will Lulu be written off or not?

I had an eventful morning yesterday....

I was working from home office in an actual house (for a change) when I smelt burning smell, rushed outside to see clouds of smoke rising out of the back of my precious Lulu....

I grabbed my fire extinguisher from behind passenger seat to race to rear of truck to see actual flames !! freak freak freak.

Then a small butane gas canister exploded and flames filled the rear of my truck !

The dry powder extinguisher did a great job killing flames until they suddenly flared up again... and there was nothing left in the extinguisher, panic.

Raced around the house to locate a hose and managed to douse remaining flames.

A neighbour called the emergency services for me and on their prompt arrival I had a team of firemen helping me disconnect my deep cycle lithium batteries (thankfully not touched by fire), my solar panel and all electrics.

Phew.

Turns out none of my camper wiring was at fault, none of my fuses even blown...

The source of the fire was a brand new lithium rechargeable battery I only bought 2 days before and had only put into the back of the truck the night before.

You can see the battery in the image below which shows where the fire started.

Remarkably I got to the fire in time and it was contained and controlled to the rear of the vehicle only. The exterior looks perfect and the front interior is coated in the extinguisher powder, which I understand can be ver caustic to electrical wiring :(

Minor Injuries

Me, minor burns to left arm that I can't recall getting, some singed hair and an hour or so in the hospital emergency ward to check I was okay and bandage my arm. Bags under my eyes from a poor night's sleep thinking about it all - but in good health.

Current status - Lulu is being assessed by insurance company tomorrow....

I really have no idea what they will decide.!!!
